Sunday, April 06, 2003 ( 2:06 PM ) BJ Heeke My focus lately has been keeping healthy and not on my fiber arts. But now that the allergies are undercontrol (for the moment anyway) I can get back to fibering. Finally finished weaving my scarf that I started oh so long ago. This involved unweaving the first attempt as I found out I beat the weft in too hard and of course then I ran out. I also picked up a couple of used boat shuttles, bought some bobbins for them and it really made all the difference in the world achieving a rythym. It is nice to have good tools! Now I just have to take it off the loom, but want to use up as much of the warp as possible and make, I do not know, maybe mug rugs or a spindle bag or something. I need to dig thru my stash and see what will work. Then it will be on to cotton dish towels. I have wanted to do these forever! I have several colors of cotton spun up, mostly blue jean and natural right now. I picked up some indigo color and a charcoal at the Destin Spin-in from Eileen Hallman of New World Textiles. I hope to experiment different striping patterns like the ones that are in the Spring Spin-Off. I have actually gotten at least one project done recently. I made toe socks for my yougest daughter, Eva. Here is a picture of them. ![]() Okay so I made up for not posting much lately. I am still trying to figure out how to put in the archives... bj |
