These are a few of my spindles. The two in the basket are from Hatchtown Farms, a production spindle and an Amelia. From the left are all high whorl spindles, my favorites! a hand made wooden wheel spindle, apple spindle that I got in an exchange, Lambsy Divey an All Day Lollipop Lollipops, Cherry Lap spindle, short Mongold, Pansy Lollipop, Kaari. The rest are supported spindles, the big one is a Navajo style with a ceramic whorl. The ones in the front are all cotton support spindles, some have whorls I got off eBay, one is from China, one from Columbia and the rest are from Africa. The African ones I got for Christmas several years ago gifted to me by my dear husband, Rick.
Here are a few of my miniature spinning wheels. The first one I found is the one in the middle on a little wooden base. I found this at a flea market for $2.00! It was made in Poland. I have been slowly adding to my collection for about 20 years. I also have 4 spinning wheel lamps!
Whoops! I forgot to add my Celtic spindle in the picture. This is from
Poppa's Spindles. It spins so smoothly and long!
I think I went on a spindle buying spree for the last year! Here are my latest aquistions. First I got the Bosworth midi in purple heart from Suzanne of Fire Ant Ranch at 2002's Kid-n-Ewe & Llama's Too. Then Janet Lynn from The Wheel Thing enticed me with that beautiful lacewood Emily by Adam Mielke Adam Mielke's Woodshop.
In January of 2003 I was fortunate enough to attend 'the spin-in' in Destin, Florida. While there I was lured into buying an Ebonized Oak spindle made by Edward Tabachek of Edward's Spindle Shop . I swear that spindle hypnotized me! And I kept going back to the Rovings booth and fondling this spindle!
Last but not least, I happened on getting a very good deal from Linda Diak of Grafton Fibers for a Bird's Eye Maple Swan with a purple heart shaft.I really love all of these spindles and usually all have at least a bit of fiber on all of them!
