Nothing like starting the New Year out right, eh? Once I get started up dating my website I have trouble not doing more and more, then I have to remember which pages to up load! I got 'em written on a post-it note tonight!
I actually got some handmade gifts done for my kids this past Christmas. Here is a picture of my daughter, Eva, modeling the crocheted cloche I made for her. And yes it is handspun yarn too.
I also knit a skull cap for my son, but forgot to get a picture of it before I gave it to him. Actually, I finished it up just as he came over for dinner on Christmas Eve. Will try for a picture later. I used the yarn that I got Best of Division in Spinning at our local Fair. You can see it in the archives for October 2004.
(Nighttime-and who cares anyway?)

I finally finished it! I started spinning this quiviut just before we moved to Texas in June of 2000. IIRC I finished plying it on the plane down. I had 2 ounces, 1 oz. each from 2 different shops. This pattern I found online at a page that is now defunct. If you search for 'Natchaq' smoke ring on the Internet Archives aka 'The Way Back Machine' you still should be able to find it. As you can see from the picture I only did 2 pattern repeats. That was all the yarn I had with just a little bit left over. I think I will make limited edition spindlepins and spindlebobs with the leftovers.
The banding you see on the smoke ring is from the differences in the fiber, 1. from being re-knit quite a few times as I kept e'fing up the pattern. How can a 24 stitch pattern be so difficult?! 2. there were 2 different quivuit sources used. I wish I would have been able to distinguish that as I was knitting, but the colors were too close for these old eyes.
Oh! I got to wear my smoke ring today! My husband, Rick, and I went out for mochas and Krispy Kreme doughnuts this morning. It was about 25° out, so I popped it over my Eddie Bauer fleece and it was so warm! I even used it as a hand warmer cuz I could not find my gloves.
